Suicide Pants
Fall 2020
Fashion design
Denim, cotton, rope, elastic
Suicide Pants is a junior year high school piece created for my AP 3D Art and Design portfolio, exploring the emotional weight of mental health struggles through wearable art. The garment features hand-fabricated white pants adorned with sewn denim loops — each representing feelings of isolation and emotional burden — alongside a rope belt dyed red and tied in a deliberate knot, symbolizing pain and anguish. The denim material references a damaged childhood, and the pants' physical weight of nearly nine pounds serves as a tangible metaphor for the gravity of depression and loneliness. The piece draws from personal experience, translating years of emotional hardship into a visual and physical form.
