Odyssey is a freshman year college piece created for my Visual Culture Studio class, celebrating my Korean heritage through the visual language of Korean Air — the iconic national airline. Set against the airline's signature blue, the composition is structured around airplane-window shaped frames, each capturing a distinct facet of my family's identity. The windows depict my family's home in Los Angeles, three generations of elders alongside Korean cultural symbols, my grandfather's executive role in the founding of Korean Air, shared passions such as Korean cuisine and art collecting, luxury automobiles, and my cousins' athletic pursuits — including a cousin who competed as a diver in the Junior Olympics. Together, the piece forms a layered, personal portrait of my Korean family's history and culture.
