Legacy Map: Electroconvulsive Therapy is a senior year college project tracing the historical, cultural, and political dimensions of ECT across technical and institutional contexts. Driven by a personal interest in neuroscience and psychology, I designed the map as a vintage newspaper-style poster printed on canvas, drawing aesthetic inspiration from early medical journals published in England, Italy, and the United States. Aged textures and tonal browns and blacks evoke the institutional weight of ECT's history. The poster is mounted on a vintage medical privacy screen of the kind used in mid-century psychiatric wards, displayed alongside a neuroanatomy brain model — creating a presentation that doesn't merely communicate information, but inhabits the world it describes.
